Cauliflower is an absolute powerhouse when it comes to nutritional benefits! That’s why I’m sharing 3 of my favourite air fryer cauliflower recipes.
Not to mention, we’ll look at why cauliflower is good for you, the healthiest way to cook cauliflower and top tips to make each recipe versatile and fresh each time.
As a nutritionist, I can’t recommend cauliflower enough for a nutritional super-boost.
Plus, if you’re trying to shift menopause induced weight, cauliflower is an excellent choice. Not to mention, cauliflower is an easy (and delicious) addition to your diet.
Cauliflower is packed to the brim with nutrients. Vitamins and minerals dense – including vitamin C, vitamin K and folate – while remaining low in calories. It’s almost a miracle vegetable.
Antioxidants are there to protect your cells from inflammation and dangerous free radicals in the body.
Cauliflower is full of them – particularly in two groups of antioxidants called glucosinolates and isothiocyanates – which have been studied in clinical trials. The results suggested that these antioxidants help to slow down cancer cell growth.
On top of this, cauliflower is packed with Vitamin C, which helps with inflammation. If you’re struggling with menopause bloating, the vitamin C in cauliflower will help. Not to mention, vitamin C has also been shown to improve your immune system and lower the risk of heart disease and cancer.
Every nutritionist will tell you how important fibre is, because it feeds the good type of bacteria in your gut. That, in turn, helps to reduce inflammation and make digestion easier for your body.
In menopause, fibre is especially important to aid with weight loss. This is because fibre helps you to feel fuller for longer, helping you lower your overall calorie intake.
As mentioned, cauliflower’s high fibre content keeps you fuller for longer, which is one of the reasons cauliflower is excellent for weight loss.
Another reason why cauliflower is excellent for weight loss is because it is so low in calories – with only 27 calories per 107g. You can eat a good amount of it without seeing a huge increase in your calorie intake.
Finally, cauliflower is weight loss friendly because of it’s high water content. 92% of cauliflower is made up of water, which is fantastic for overall health, skin and hair hydration and weight loss.
Many people who are trying to lose weight or simply get healthier favour cauliflower because it’s so versatile. Unhealthy alternatives can be swapped with cauliflower without compromising on flavour.
For example:
So, what’s healthier? Cauliflower cooked in the air fryer, oven roasted cauliflower or boiled?
Let’s begin with boiling.
While it may be the way you were brought up to cook vegetables, boiling can lead to a loss of nutrients. If you prefer the way boiled cauliflower tastes, steaming is a healthier alternative.
That said, the most delicious ways to make cauliflower without compromising the nutrients is oven roasting or in the air fryer. This way, the cauliflower will crisp up and take on a whole different taste.
So, what’s better for you? Air fryer cauliflower or oven roasted cauliflower?
The truth is, when it comes to making cauliflower, they are the same. It just depends on personal preference. So, if you don’t have an air fryer, don’t worry. You can apply these recipes to oven-roasting and they’ll be just as good.
So, let’s take a look at my favourite air fryer cauliflower recipes. Remember, if you don’t have an air fryer, don’t worry. You can make these in your oven, too.
